Float WIC Nutritionist/MNT Dietitian

JOB SUMMARY

The primary responsibility of the Float WIC Nutritionist/MNT Dietitian is to be part of the healthcare team, evaluating patient's nutritional status, determining patient readiness and confidence to make changes, providing nutrition counseling services to patients, including nutrition principals, diet, food selection, and economics. Determine WIC Program eligibility based on patient income as well as medical and nutrition risk identified. Determine risk codes, based on assessment and information presented. Determine continuing eligibility for month issuance of food instruments. Provide client education regarding benefits issuance and usage and the certification process. Communicate nutrition care plans to the physicians and other health professionals. Make patient referrals for a variety of services, internally and externally. May also coordinate clinic flow and take anthropometric measures per WIC guidelines. Meet encounter and financial goals as assigned. Floats to ALL Piedmont Health Services locations in Orange, Chatham, Caswell, and Alamance County and the Orange County Health Department.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Licensure/Experience:Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution approved by the ACEND (Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics) with a major in nutrition and a Registered Dietitian. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Interested in becoming a certified diabetes educator or is a diabetes educator preferred. Clinical dietetics experience preferred.

 

  • Ability to teach; analytical thinking
  • Ability to provide care to all age groups of patients; knowledge of clinical dietetics
  • Must be able to work under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have the ability to travel between all PHS sites frequently

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS

Requires frequent sitting for long periods, operation of standard office machines and computer.  May require lifting of up to 25 pounds.  Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.  Requires use of office equipment, such as computer terminals, telephones or copiers.  Requires normal vision range.  Work is performed in an office environment.  Contact with staff and external clients and vendors
