Van Driver (PACE)

The primary responsibility of the Driver is to transport the physically limited passengers to and from their destinations. This position requires constant interaction with caregivers and community agencies; this positon also performs patient care activities and assistance with personal care needs as needed.


Education/Experience: High school degree or equivalent. 1 year experience transporting or caring for individuals with special mobility needs or impaired adults.

  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Must be able to operate handicap-accessible vehicles
  • Must meet a standardized set of competencies for the specific position description established by PHSC and approved by CMS before working independently.

Type of Employees Supervised: None.

Licensure, Registry or Certification Required: Valid NC Driver's License and an acceptable three-year motor vehicle record as defined by the Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Chart. Class B or C with passenger endorsement preferred, but not required.

Immunizations:  Be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all immunizations up-to-date prior to beginning employment. 



Adult Geriatric



Requires frequent sitting for long periods, operation of standard office machines and computer.  May require lifting of up to 25 pounds.  Requires eye hand coordination and manual dexterity.  Requires the use of office equipment, such as computer terminals, telephones and copiers.  Requires normal vision.  Work is performed in an office environment. Contact with staff and external clients/vendors.
