FARMWORKER OUTREACH SPECIALIST

Full-Time with Benefits (40 Hours/Week)

Seasonal/Temporary Position until the end of March 2023 with potential for extension

Bilingual (English/Spanish) Speaking REQUIRED

 

 

JOB SUMMARY

The Farmworker Health Outreach Specialist acts under the direction, guidance and supervision of the Farmworker Health Outreach Manager.  This position is responsible for completing and documentation of basic health assessments, referrals, and follow ups to migrant, H-2A, seasonal, and retired farmworkers. 

Additionally, outreach activities, case management, and health education are core expectations of this position.  Teamwork approach is critical, and assisting with interns/students is expected. The position requires flexible hours (evenings and weekends), as well as a valid NC driver's license, car insurance, an acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:Minimum requirement is a high school diploma, preferred associate's or bachelor's degree in the area of public health, international health, social work, education, nursing, and/or equivalent training or experience.

Current/valid License: Driver's License

Experience: Public health outreach preferred.

Language: Bilingual English/Spanish required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORKING CONDITIONS

Requires frequent sitting for long periods, operation of standard office machines and computer.  May require lifting of up to 25 pounds.  Requires hand-eye  coordination and manual dexterity.  Requires use of office equipment, such as computer terminals, telephones or copiers.  Requires normal vision range. 

Work is performed in an office environment and in the community.  Community outreach is typically done outside, so much be able to withstand all outside climate variables (e.g. heat, farmland, etc). Must be able to work flexible hours, as evening and weekend work are necessary. Contact with staff and external clients and vendors.  This position requires considerable driving to remote locations.  A valid driver's license and proof of insurance is required for this position.

It is an expectation for this position to drive a company vehicle to transport patients and perform outreach duties, so maintaining a driving record in compliance with Piedmont Health's insurance policy is a requirement.
